Let's Go Cubs!!

based on a photograph by Seth Anderson (https://www.clustershot.com/sethanderson)
The current Cubs Season will end on or shortly after 09/28/2014 (depending on if the Cubs make it to the post season and then how deep they go into the post season). Anno Catuli (AC) is not updated until the Cub's season is concluded, so the current AC (above) is computed as of the completion of the 2013 Season.

What is Eamus Catuli?
Per Wikipedia:
The Lakeview Baseball Club, which sits across Sheffield Avenue (right-field) from the stadium displays a sign that reads, "Eamus Catuli!" (roughly Latin for "Let's Go Cubs!" - catuli translating to "whelps", the nearest Latin equivalent), flanked by a counter indicating the Cubs' long legacy of futility. The counter is labeled "AC," for "Anno Catuli," or "In the Year of the Cubs." The first two digits indicate the number of years since the Cubs' last division championship (in 2008) as of the end of the previous season, the next two digits indicate the number of years since the Cubs' last trip to the World Series (in 1945), and the last three digits indicate the number of years since their last World Series win (in 1908).

About This Page

I know, I know, what's the big deal? It looks like all I did was PhotoShop a picture and slap some HTML around it. Well, there is much more here than meets the eye.

All the content on this page is dynamic. The dates displayed on this page and used in calculating AC are pulled from a data source. The Anno Catuli is calculated every time the page is rendered; the picture itself is created "on the fly" and the Anno Catuli that appears in it will change over time without me ever having to manually tweak the picture.

For as simple looking as this page is, there's quite a bit of code churning in the background.

Never let it be said that I am not willing to take a very mundane idea to heights it never dreamed possible. I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea if I occasionally stoped to ask "Should I" once I've answered "Could I", but really, what fun is that?!?

Eamus Catuli!! Ego ago pro AC0000000!!!
